HOW TO JOIN THE CHOIR

We welcome people age 16 and above. If you have some knowledge of music and are able to sightread, this will help you with some of the more demanding music.  But if you have a tuneful voice and a good musical memory you should not have any great difficulty in performing the music we sing.

Our subscription fees are £75 for 2026. These contribute greatly towards the expense of hiring music scores, rehearsals, venues and professional musicians who perform in our concerts.  Fees are waived for people under the age of 21.

We welcome new members for any vocal section of the choir: please contact the Membership Secretary on 07770 638227, by email or fill in and post the Application Form.

WHERE WE SING

Concerts normally take place in the beautiful and historic setting of St Mary's Church in Fairford.  St Mary's is famous for its complete set of stained glass from the 15th centure which is unique in a parish church.

REHEARSALS

Rehearsals are held in Fairford United Church (Milton Street, GL7 4BW) on Wednesdays from 7.30 pm (doors open 7.10) until 9.30 pm with a short break during the evening. There will also be an additional rehearsal on the day of the concert.

Because of the relatively restricted practice time we encourage a high level of attendance at practices.  Sympathetic consideration will be given to those members who are unable to meet the target of 80% attendance but who are able to demonstrate satisfactory knowledge of the music to be performed.

Performances normally take place in March and November and there are between 10 and 12 weeks of rehearsal for each term.
